I don’t recognise a charge
If a charge from Money Matters appears on your card statement and you are not sure what it is for, this page explains the most common reasons and how to get it reviewed.
On this page
What the descriptor means
Payments for this service appear on your bank or card statement as themoney-matters.com. Because the descriptor is the website address rather than a shop name, people often don’t recognise it at first — especially if someone else in the household created the account.
Why a recurring charge appears
Subscription plans renew automatically on a recurring cycle until they are cancelled, as set out in the billing terms shown at checkout and on the Terms & Conditions page. A charge that appears after your first payment is normally that renewal.
A one-time purchase does not renew. If you made a one-time purchase and are seeing repeat charges, tell us — that needs investigating.
If you still don’t recognise it
Before contacting your bank, it is usually quicker to check:
- Whether a family member or partner signed up using your card
- Whether you registered with a different email address than the one you are checking
- Whether the charge is a renewal of a plan you started earlier
How to ask us to review a charge
Submit a Charge Inquiry request and include:
- The first 6 and last 4 digits of the card that was charged
- The exact charge amount and the date it appeared
- The email address used to register, if you know it
Never send your full card number, expiry date, or security code. The first 6 and last 4 digits are all we need to locate the transaction.
